Were you disappointed by the recent US election results?
I’m pretty sure from all I’m hearing that a great many people were not happy with how things recently turned out in the US mid-term elections — either by the changes that DID happen, or what DIDN’T come about.
I’m reminded again that Rome was not a democracy nor was Jerusalem a free state during Jesus’ day, not even close. But in spite of the political situation of His time, He never focused on or even mentioned politics or any happenings related to an earthly kingdom during His time on earth, but rather spent all his time and efforts on promoting and spreading the news of the coming Kingdom of God, which would eventually put an end to all injustices, knock down Man’s kingdoms and then reign over this earth. He advertised the installing and establishing of a special kingdom in which love, peace and justice reign supreme — all things that Mankind truly desires and even longs for even now. It’s scheduled to happen at the time of His Father’s choosing, which seemingly is not that far in the future according to prophecies in the Bible and other books.
Daniel 2:44 And in the days of those kings the God of heaven shall raise up a kingdom which eternally shall never become corrupted, and this kingdom shall not be left to another people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
It comforts me to remember that no matter how disappointing the local developments in the US for most people, better days are coming. Many of the promises are not for this earth at this time, but for that coming Kingdom, which we are invited help bring to pass: His ‘kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven.’
